ADAPTIVE MESH SIMPLIFICATION
Adaptive mesh simplification allows to preserve more triangles and allocate a larger texture budget for important areas such as faces or hands.
TEMPORAL MESH STABILIZATION
Temporally stable meshes allow for better compression and easier post-processing of data. We offer fully automated computing of temporally stable meshes.
INDIVIDUAL FEATURE TRACKING
Tracking of the 3D data allows the placement of new accessories or changes to clothing without having to re-record the volucap. This allows a more flexible use for future applications.
DYNAMIC EYE CONTACT
Eye contact increases immersion as the Volucap always follows the observer. It doesn’t matter where the viewer stands, because he always feels directly addressed.
FUNDED PROJECTS
GRW 2.0 – Expansion of the Volucap Innovation Cluster
With the project “GRW 2.0 – Erweiterung des Innovationsclusters”, Volucap GmbH is building upon the infrastructure created during the first funding phase of the volumetric studio in Babelsberg. The aim is to further develop technologies, workflows, and networks in the field of volumetric video capture, Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR).
A central focus lies on ensuring non-discriminatory access to this key technology and promoting knowledge transfer between research, industry, and the creative sector. By expanding cooperation with regional and international partners – including research institutions, universities, and companies – the project aims to position Brandenburg as a European competence center for volumetric and immersive media production in the long term.


ProFIT: VoluStar
VoluStar is a research and development project by Volucap GmbH, focusing on the creation of a modular, AI-powered software platform for the generation, editing, and integration of lifelike volumetric avatars. The project combines high-resolution volumetric capture with generative AI to develop editable, realistic digital humans for film, XR, and media production.
