Volumetric Recording Preserves Eva Szepesi’s Holocaust Testimony for XR Learning Environments
Berlin, 26. May – In an important step towards preserving living history, Volucap has recorded the story of Holocaust survivor Eva Szepesi using innovative volumetric technology. As part of its growing archive of contemporary witnesses accounts, developed in collaboration with the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, this initiative marks a profound commitment to keeping historical memory alive through immersive media.
Eva Szepesi, who has long been a powerful voice in Holocaust education through her books and public engagements, visited the Volucap studio to record her testimony in full 3D. Using the company’s high-resolution volumetric capture system—renowned for delivering over 3000 megapixels of detail—her testimony was recorded with lifelike clarity, giving viewers the opportunity to later experience her presence through VR headsets as if they were standing in the same room.
This volumetric archive marks a new frontier in educational storytelling. Designed for use in extended reality (XR) applications, the recordings give future generations the chance to engage with personal history in a deeply emotional and human way. Students and educators alike will soon be able to explore Szepesi’s experiences within virtual learning environments—bringing history to life far beyond traditional classrooms.
As the world continues to seek new ways to remember and reflect, Volucap’s work demonstrates the powerful role technology can play in shaping collective memory—authentically, respectfully, and accessibly.
At Volucap, our mission has always been to give memory a form that transcends time. Recording the testimony of Eva Szepesi ensures that her voice continues to educate, move, and inspire—now and in the future.
